In the 19th century, the region formed part of the royal estate of Ekrem Bey, an Ottoman noble landowner, and was known as Eşkinoz. Following the 1923 Population Exchange and subsequent migrations from the Balkans, Romanian and Bulgarian Turkish families settled in the village. Renamed Esenyurt in 1967, the village underwent rapid industrialization in the 1980s as major manufacturing parks were established along the E-5 and TEM highways.
